Description

Hawaiian Roll Breakfast Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast option featuring soft Hawaiian rolls layered with creamy cream cheese, savory scrambled eggs, flavorful breakfast sausage, and melted cheddar cheese, topped with a buttery herb glaze and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Rolls and Spread

  • 1 12-count package Hawaiian Rolls
  • 6 tablespoons cream cheese (plain or onion & chive)

Filling

  • 1/2 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 1/3 cup diced red bell peppers (optional)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Butter Glaze

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the assembled sliders.
  2. Prepare Rolls: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice through all 12 Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating the individual buns, creating one large top piece and one large bottom piece.
  3. Arrange Bottom Buns: Place the bottom half of the buns into a greased 8x11-inch baking pan. If unavailable, use a greased 9x13-inch pan placing the buns in the center. Set the top halves aside.
  4. Spread Cream Cheese: Evenly spread the cream cheese over the bottom buns to act as a flavorful base layer.
  5. Cook Sausage and Peppers: In a saucepan, brown the ground breakfast sausage along with the diced red bell peppers (if using). Drain excess fat and set the mixture aside.
  6. Make Scrambled Eggs: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and black pepper until smooth. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the egg mixture. Stir occasionally until eggs are fully cooked and scrambled.
  7. Assemble Fillings: Sprinkle the cooked sausage mixture evenly over the cream cheese on the bottom buns, followed by the scrambled eggs. Then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Top with Buns: Carefully place the top halves of the buns over the filled bottom halves to form sandwiches.
  9. Prepare Butter Glaze: Melt the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Stir in onion powder, black pepper, and dried parsley flakes. Brush this butter mixture generously over the top buns, allowing it to soak in.
  10. Bake Covered: Cover the pan with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  11. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and bake an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops of the buns are golden brown.
  12. Serve: Slice the baked sliders into individual portions and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier twist, add diced jalapeños to the sausage mixture.
  • You can substitute cream cheese with flavored spreads like garlic and herb for extra flavor.
  • Using a non-stick or well-greased pan helps prevent the sliders from sticking during baking.
  • If you prefer, cheddar cheese can be swapped with pepper jack or mozzarella for a different taste.
  • Make sure not to separate the buns before baking to help keep the sliders intact for easy slicing and serving.
