Instructions
- Prepare Crumb Topping: In a bowl, combine 1 1/4 cups flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir in melted butter until mixture forms crumbly texture. Set aside.
- Mix Dry Ingredients for Cake: In another bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Egg and Flavorings: Beat in the egg, then incorporate eggnog, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
- Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated and no dry streaks remain.
- Assemble Cake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a greased 9x9 inch baking pan. Evenly sprinkle the prepared crumb topping over the batter.
- Bake Cake: Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack.

- Glaze and Garnish: Drizzle glaze over cooled cake and decorate with sprinkles if desired. Allow glaze to set before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature ingredients to ensure even mixing and a tender cake crumb.
- The crumb topping can be slightly chilled before sprinkling to enhance texture.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute eggnog and sour cream with plant-based alternatives.
- Make sure the cake is fully cooled before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
- Sprinkles are optional but add a festive touch perfect for holiday celebrations.
