Description

These Cheesy Stuffed Breadsticks are golden brown, buttery, and packed with melted Monterey Jack cheese, making them the ultimate comfort food appetizer or snack. Perfect for serving warm with marinara sauce for dipping, they combine soft pizza dough with a flavorful garlic herb butter glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese

  • 16 oz. Cabot Monterey Jack cheese

Dough

  • 2 1-pound balls of pizza dough

Garlic Butter

  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Other

  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F to get it ready for baking the breadsticks.
  2. Prepare Cheese: Cut one block of Monterey Jack cheese lengthwise into 8 long pieces. Cut half of the second block into 4 long pieces. Grate the remaining half block. Set all cheese pieces and shredded cheese aside.
  3. Roll Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll each 1-pound ball of pizza dough into a 10”x18” rectangle.
  4. Assemble Breadsticks: Place one rectangle of dough on a cutting board. Arrange the 12 pieces of long cheese evenly across the length. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
  5. Top Layer: Place the second dough rectangle over the cheese and press the dough layers firmly around each cheese piece to seal them.
  6. Cut Breadsticks: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut between each cheese piece to create 12 stuffed breadsticks. Pinch the dough tightly around each to seal.
  7. Prepare Baking Sheet: Transfer the stuffed breadsticks to parchment-lined baking sheets.
  8. Bake: Bake the breadsticks for 18 minutes or until they are light golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Make Garlic Butter: While baking, whisk melted butter with parsley, kosher salt, oregano, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  10. Brush Breadsticks: Remove breadsticks from oven and brush tops generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  11. Serve: Serve the warm breadsticks immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the dough is rolled evenly to avoid undercooked spots.
  • Use fresh parsley for a more vibrant flavor in the garlic butter.
  • These breadsticks are best served hot right out of the oven so the cheese stays melty.
  • If desired, substitute Monterey Jack with mozzarella or a cheese blend.
  • You can prepare the breadsticks ahead of time and refrigerate before baking; just add a couple extra minutes to baking time if baking cold.
